About
Billabong
Billabong is an
Australian English word meaning a small lake, specifically
an oxbow
lake, a section of still water adjacent to a river, cut off by a change in
the watercourse. Billabongs are usually formed when the path of a creek or
river changes, leaving the former branch with a dead end. Billabongs, reflecting the arid
Australian climate in which these "dead rivers" are found, fill with water
seasonally and are dry for a greater part of the year. Billabong is also an Australian Aboriginal word for "Dead Creek".
It has
special meaning for Kim, the farms owner, flower grower, designer and
lover of all flowers ! Not only does the farm have a Billabong, it's also a connection to Kims roots
in Australia where she grew up .
The specialty cut flowers and foliage grown on the farm are a
combination of annuals, perennials, herbs, bulbs, shrubs and Texas natives.
Everything is harvested and conditioned at the most critical time in their life
span, so Kim can personally guarantee the longevity and freshness of her cut flowers, flowers
that you can enjoy much longer than you'd expect to
